Chris Hippensteel, NRC’s Network/System Administrator, was invited to speak at .NEXT Conference at the ExCel Center in London, UK on November 28th, 2018. Chris served on the panel “Veeam Availability Platform – Hyper Availability,” as well as participated in a breakout session on how hyperconverged infrastructure has changed the way IT operates. .NEXT Conference is the IT industry’s leading datacenter and cloud conference.
Chris shared NRC’s success story of their recent move to the Nutanix platform. With the move to Nutanix and its seamless ability to work hand-in-hand with Veeam as a backup solution, NRC has simplified its storage and server management, improved disaster recovery, and increased the speed of deploying new servers. In addition to substantial cost savings and better controls, the transition has also allowed NRC to shift its focus from troubleshooting emergencies to completing company strategic initiatives.
NRC is currently running the VMware hypervisor, but plans to move to AHV within the year. Moving to the new Nutanix system will reduce the cost of VMWare licensing and make it easier for NRC to meet their IT and service delivery goals.
“NRC’s mission is to drive improvement with the use of technology – both for ourselves and for our clients,” said Chris Hippensteel. “Incorporating the new platform, and working with partners like Nutanix and Veeam, has allowed us to do just that.”
